How irrelevent are polls in your decisions?

What up all. Well I know most of you don't know me or what kind of life I lead. It's a rather uninteresting one comprised mainly of doing a half way job at work and baby sitting a dog while the girl I love sleeps. Yeah I know, sounds pretty uninteresting right. Thats where the weirdness steps in. I actually have quite a few interesting things happen to me in the course of a normal day. For instance the past two days at work have been rather confusing. I am a glorified telemarketer. No, I don't bother people at home while theyre eating dinner. I said glorified not average.

I call businesses in the inland empire and high desert area to set appointments for office machine sales people. We only sell one brand, just so happens that it's the best brand out there. Can't say it online but just so you know it's Xcellent. So anyways, there is myself and two others who call businesses that don't use our equipment. These are the hardest to break into because they have no clue who we are much less have a reason to want to find out. So my day consists mainly of verbal abuse and irritated receptionists. Well we get a new guy in here who is the owners pet basically. This new guy isn't an ass, he's actually pretty cool. But because the owners son is being looked at by MLB recruiters this new guy is given preferential treatment because he is a coach for a local college team and he knows the recruiters personally. So this guy gets handed current customers.

Now here comes the fucked up part. This guy can call 10 businesses and book 5 appointments. For the rest of us to book 5 appointments in a day we would probably have to call somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 businesses a day. This is all fine and dandy for now. I don't mind this guy gettin special treatment. He's cool and he's helping the owner. I was cool that is until our department was talked about under the subject of downsizing. Our tireless efforts were compared to the new guys. The three of us do totally different shit from him. How we found out is fucked up too.

The controller for the company pulled one of us to the side and told one of us that since we were so cool and straight forward she was going to do the same with her. So the news of the downsizing and everything was put into motion. So were all online at lunch updating our Monster Resume's. Well today we come in expecting some kind of meeting on the subject and whats the piece of news we get now? The owner has installed a new bonus program. The person with the most leads gets $100 cash at the end of the month from now on. So if were considering downsizing why is more cash being thrown out? Which could only lead me to think that the psycho of a controller we have is just fucking with us.

What would possess someone to screw with a lowely telemarketers so bad? It's not like we dont' deal with enough shit as it is. So all this morning we have been trying to think of why she would do this and then have the owner offer us more cash. One of my co-workers wants to hurt the woman and the ADD chick on the other side of me is freaking out even more than before. Her pills have become almost ineffective lately.

I don't know if anyone followed that and don't really care actually. Just venting some frustration. I'm sure some of you probably understand what I'm talking about though. One thing that never lets us down in the office as far as entertainment is concerned is ADD chick. I especially love it when she forgets to take her meds. She's like two different people. When they are working she is Ms proper, sweet, innocent angel. But off of her meds she's vulgar aggressive and some what violent. It's funny as hell. Now some might be upset that a person with this some times debilitating afliction is entertaining to me. I really don't care! She knows how she is and will occasionally go to a length to make us laugh off of her meds.

A day in our office will make any normal person resort to meds too.
